The Homing Log (Dogs)
A record of all PAWS dogs homed abroad - starting January 2012.

"To the world you are just one more rescuer. But to the rescued animal you are the world."
Many people ask us if we are sure that the PAWS animals sent abroad are going to good and suitable homes. The homing partners we work with are long-established, highly reputable and have been visited by PAWS. Many of them have visted us to see our operation at work.

Bodie - trailblazer for nine puppy siblings who went to Holland in March
The small puppy (above left) is Bodie. He was one of nine puppy siblings brought into the shelter when they were only four weeks old. The dog above right is the very same Bodie some months later, in his new home in Holland - and loving every minute of his life there. According to his new owner: "He loves loves running around and playing in the garden. At night he sleeps in a big crate and also goes in there during the day when he gets tired. But we've also given him a big soft bed in the living room, especially to play in."
None of the nine puppies (all with names beginning with B who are listed above) would have survived without the dedicated efforts of three separate PAWS foster carers, who were bottle-feeding them for the first two weeks. "It took a lot of sleepless nights to keep these puppies going" said one of the carers, Sheler Manager Yvonne, "which makes this picture of him in his new life sooooo rewarding!" We'll bring news of the others shortly.

And some feedback from a previous transport to UK ...
Blossom finds the perfect home - and her new owners find the perfect dog!
The pictures of Blossom (now re-named Bella) who went to the UK in March tell their own story. Her new owner Jacqueline writes: "I cannot believe how her temperament is and how well she has settled. She has the most balanced character of any dog I have previously rescued and the most loving and affectionate. She is the most brilliant little dog I have known. I have to say you at PAWS are all valued by my family, for giving us the opportunity to help in a small way by re-homing dogs like Blossom."
Jack and his new best friend Rafael
Jack (above right) is a brave nine-year-old from Birmingham (UK) who has had a rough time of it. He's had several opertions in the past few years to correct a shortened leg, and still has weekly physio sessions. The one things Jack always wanted was a dog, so his parents decided the time was right and consulted the local resuce charity Dogwatch. The family settled on a PAWS dog Patrick, who has since been re-named Rafael (after Nadal!). Patrick had travelled from PAWS to Birmingham in January, to be fostered and re-homed from there. Jack's mother Jo reports:
"Jack and Rafa are now best friends and spend lots of time playing in the garden or lying tangled up together on the sofa! Rafa's favourite toys are tennis balls which he usually tears to pieces, but we have now managed to find some 'industrial strength' ones which last a little longer!
"In Jack's words 'Rafa is my best friend and I like to play with him. He is big and cuddly and I love him very much' "
Patrick, as he then was, had bee rescued the previous year by PAWS volunteer Dolores, who saw him - "no more than skin and bone" - running down the road in Turre. He's improved a bit since then!
Transport to Holland - 27th February 2012
A consignment of 27 dogs went to Holland - 16 adult dogs and 13 puppies. Two of the adult dogs, brothers Rick and Balu, will be fostered through Rita Rebel while a home is sought for them. In foster care they will benefit from valuable in-home life experiences and develop better social skills to help assure them a more successful adoption. The remaining 25 were destined for the Reddingboei Reception centre. The adults were:Hooch, Emily, Shanie, Rula, Misty, Dinky, Gizmo, Trigger, Oliva, Amy, Jaqueline, Joey & Pepe. The puppies were: Grace, Emily II, Doc, Kevin, Twizzle, Ronnie, Burdi, Tony, Tutu, Churro, Pica & Van. The PAWS van returned with donations of hundreds of tins of dog food, dry food, cat food and cat toys, bedding, dog supplies, and some clothing for the PAWS Shop!. .
Five PAWS dogs - Luigi, Tyg, Pippit, Blossom (see above) and Juanita - were taken privately to the UK in early March.
Transport to Holland and Germany - 25th January 2012
The PAWS van left the shelter in late afternoon for a 5.000 km round trip to Holland and Germany. It was carrying 25 dogs - 11 for Holland and 14 bound for Germany. Going to Holland were Zara, Zinzi, Zoey, (see their stories here) Flora, Giny, Yarah, YaYa, Yahoo, Harry, Yoda, Chimichurri and Zumbo; they were received there by our partners at Reddingboei Shelter who took 151 PAWS dogs last year. Our grateful thanks to them for their recent offer to make a small donation to our New Transport Van Fund for every dog PAWS delivers to them.
In Germany 14 dogs - Jack, Janelle, Suzy, Yogurt, Scrappy, Sally, Sean, Stevie, Reggae, Jazz, Pascal, Tilly, Boogie and Pepe - went either to Eurohonden or to three dedicated individuals -
Anja Witting, Elga Brüß and Uschi Cassens. Our grateful thanks to them.
Transport to UK - 9th January 2012
Fifteen dogs left the shelter bound for Solihull. Ten were PAWS' own dogs: Summer, Archie , JJ, Ditch, Luco, Mira, Coco, Kim, Nessa, Ginger. The other five were being transported for individual owners, who contributed to the transport cost. Homing in England was organised by Dog Watch UK and Ibizan Hound Rescue, regular PAWS homing partners. Austin - a real PAWS favourite - was not included in this transport as he had gone spearately a few days before. See the individual entry here
