PAWS maintains an adoption shelter for dogs and a small cattery. It is maintained by a full-time manager and staffed by experienced volunteers. We have our own vet to examine and treat animals while they await permanent homes.
The shelter is located on the outskirts of the Los Gallardos, Almería. It is open Tuesday-Friday for adoptions from 10.00 a.m. until 3.00 p.m. On Saturday/Sunday the hours are 10.00 am-2.00 pm. A member of staff will be on hand to help you choose the right animal for your own needs and circumstances. The shelter is closed to the public on Mondays, unless by specific appointment.
If you cannot visit during the morning then you can make an appointment for an afternoon visit, via the contact details below.
All animals adopted through PAWS are fully vaccinated. However young puppies or kittens may still be undergoing their initial vaccination program. They will have been thoroughly examined by our vet, and treated for internal and external parasites. Those of a suitable age will have been spayed or neutered.
If you would like to adopt a dog or cat, the procedure is simply and clearly set out on our Adopt page – click here. You will also find photos and profiles here of most animals available for adoption. Some are still undergoing treatment or vaccinations before being cleared for adoption, and may not yet be on the website. If you don't see the right one for you, you can arrange a visit to the shelter.
Many dogs and cats are in need of temporary care whilst they await adoption: very young puppies, sick or injured animals, those recovering post-surgery and those who cannot be given a place in the Shelter due to lack of space. We rely on volunteers who open up their hearts and homes to help these animals. If you are unable to adopt a dog or cat right now but would still like to help house an animal for even a short period, please use the contact details below. They can also help with your fostering enquiry.
